Reunion Surf Trip at Kyuka Surf Club: A Week of Waves, New Friends & Unforgettable Memories

Some surf trips are all about catching the perfect wave.

Others turn into something much bigger.

The Reunion Surf Trip, organised by Nora and Simon at Kyuka Surf Club, was one of those weeks. Surfing brought everyone together, but everything around the surfing made the week unforgettable.

Monday: From Strangers to a Shared Adventure

The Reunion Surf Trip officially began with guests arriving from different countries, all meeting for the very first time. Although nobody really knew each other yet, there was already a shared excitement in the air. Everyone had signed up for the same adventure: a week of surfing, exploring Fuerteventura, and making unforgettable memories.

While Nora and Simon arrived later that evening, the Kyuka team welcomed everyone at the villa, picked guests up from the airport, and made sure everyone settled in comfortably.

The first evening was all about introductions, sharing dinner, and getting to know one another. Conversations flowed easily, travel stories were exchanged, and the first laughs came quickly. It didn’t take long for the feeling of being surrounded by strangers to disappear. By the end of the night, everyone was already looking forward to the week ahead together.

Tuesday: First Waves, Yoga & Taco Tuesday

Tuesday was the first full day of the Reunion Surf Trip, and everyone was excited to finally get into the water.

After breakfast, the group split into beginner and advanced surf lessons. Some guests stood up on a surfboard for the very first time, while others worked on improving their turns and reading the waves. No matter the experience level, everyone came back to the villa with salty hair, tired arms, and huge smiles.

To help everyone recover after the morning in the ocean, Nora hosted a relaxing yoga session. It was the perfect way to stretch out, unwind, and recharge before the next adventure.

As evening arrived, the villa filled with the smell of fresh tacos for the now-famous Taco Tuesday. Dinner quickly turned into one of those moments where conversations flowed effortlessly. People shared stories from the day’s surf sessions, laughed about wipeouts, celebrated each other’s progress, and got to know one another even better.

By the end of Tuesday, the group no longer felt like a collection of strangers. Friendships were already beginning to form, and the Reunion Surf Trip truly felt like it had begun.

Wednesday: Surf, Volcano Views & the JAM SESSION

By Wednesday, everyone had settled into the rhythm of island life. Mornings started with breakfast, followed by beginner and advanced surf lessons, where confidence in the water was already beginning to grow. Every session brought new achievements, whether it was catching a first green wave or simply feeling more comfortable in the ocean.

After lunch, the group came together for a surf theory session. It was a great opportunity to understand more about reading waves, positioning in the lineup, and the techniques that make every surf session more enjoyable.

In the late afternoon, everyone swapped surfboards for hiking shoes and headed to one of Fuerteventura’s volcanic landscapes. The hike rewarded the group with incredible views over the island, making it easy to appreciate the unique beauty that makes Fuerteventura so special.

Back at the villa, the atmosphere shifted once again as the BBQ got fired up. With delicious food, good music, and local friends joining the evening, the house was full of energy. As the sun went down, the celebrations continued with a night out, where everyone danced, laughed, and created even more memories together.

By the end of the day, it was clear that the Reunion Surf Trip wasn’t just about surfing, it was about sharing unforgettable experiences, both in and out of the water.

Thursday: A Well-Deserved Slow Day

After an action-packed Wednesday, Thursday was all about slowing things down and enjoying the more relaxed side of surf camp life.

The morning started with a long breakfast before heading out for another surf session. With a few days of practice behind them, many guests were feeling more confident in the water, catching more waves and cheering each other on from the lineup.

Back at the villa, everyone gathered for lunch before taking some time to rest, hang out by the pool, or simply enjoy the laid-back atmosphere. In the afternoon, a Pilates session helped everyone stretch and recover after several days of surfing.

As the evening rolled around, the group came together once again for dinner, sharing stories from the week and reflecting on how quickly time was flying by. It was one of those slower days that reminded everyone that a surf holiday isn’t just about being active all the time—it’s also about taking the time to relax, connect with new friends, and enjoy the easy-going lifestyle that makes Kyuka Surf Club feel like home.

Friday: Surf, Good Vibes & a Night Out in El Cotillo

Friday brought another day full of fun, starting with a breakfast together at the villa before everyone got moving with one of Big Mike’s famous Aquafit sessions. It was the perfect mix of exercise and laughter, with plenty of smiles before the day had even properly begun.

Afterwards, those who were interested joined a short Wim Hof breathing session, taking a moment to relax, reset, and prepare for another afternoon in the ocean.

The advanced surfers then headed out for another surf session, making the most of the conditions and putting everything they had learned throughout the week into practice.

In the evening, everyone got dressed up and headed to El Cotillo for dinner together. Since the local festival was taking place that weekend, the streets were buzzing with live music, food stalls, and people celebrating. After dinner, the group joined the festivities, dancing, exploring the town, and enjoying one last big night out together.

By this point in the week, it no longer felt like a group of strangers on holiday. It felt like a group of friends making the most of every moment together.

Saturday: One Last Full Day Together

As the final full day of the Reunion Surf Trip arrived, everyone was determined to make the most of it.

The morning began with another relaxed breakfast before the group headed out for a surfskate lesson. It was a fun way to keep practicing surfing techniques on land while sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

After lunch, there was time to unwind before those who wanted to joined an extra Pilates session with Paula. Later in the afternoon, everyone grabbed their boards once again for a beautiful sunset surf session. With golden light reflecting off the ocean and familiar faces cheering each other on, it was the perfect way to end the week’s surf sessions.

Back at the villa, everyone came together for one more dinner, sharing their favourite memories from the week. Looking around the table, it was hard to believe that just a few days earlier, nobody had known each other. The Reunion Surf Trip had done exactly what it promised, bringing together a group of strangers through surfing, adventure, and unforgettable moments.

Sunday: A Perfect Ending to an Unforgettable Week

Although it was the last day of the Reunion Surf Trip, there was still plenty to look forward to.

After a relaxed brunch at the villa, everyone grabbed their towels, surfboards, beach games, and snacks before heading to the beach for one final day together. Some people caught a few more waves, others relaxed in the sun, played games, or simply enjoyed spending time with the friends they had made over the past week.

As the afternoon slowly came to an end, the group returned to the villa for one last dinner together. It was a chance to look back on an incredible week filled with surfing, laughter, adventures, and countless shared moments.

The evening became even more special as everyone celebrated Paula’s birthday together. It was the perfect way to end the Reunion Surf Trip—surrounded by good food, great people, and memories that will last long after everyone has returned home.

One week earlier, everyone had arrived as complete strangers. By Sunday night, it felt like saying goodbye to a group of close friends. And that’s exactly what makes the Reunion Surf Trip at Kyuka Surf Club so special.
